Coach Biography

Tyrek Battle-Holley is a Jersey City, New Jersey native and former standout athlete at Dickinson High School, where he remains one of the program’s all-time leading scorers with 1,608 career points. He averaged 21 points per game during both his junior and senior seasons and was the only public school player selected to the HCIAL First Team during his senior year. In addition to basketball, Battle-Holley was also a standout volleyball player for the Rams, averaging 15 kills, 2 blocks, 2 digs, and 2 assists per game. Following his senior year, Battle-Holley committed to play basketball at McCook Community College on a full scholarship. During the 2018–2019 season, he averaged 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game, while shooting 40% from three-point range, earning All-Conference honors. He later transferred to Cuyahoga Community College for the 2019–2020 season, where he served as the team’s lead guard and helped guide the program to a Top 20 national ranking and the #2 ranked defense in the country. He averaged 10.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1.7 steals per game, earning First Team All-Defense and All-OCCAC Honorable Mention recognition. Battle-Holley went on to play NCAA Division II basketball at Bloomfield College (2020–2023), where he emerged as a team leader and averaged 12.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game, while shooting 40% from the three-point line. After graduating from Bloomfield College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management, along with a certificate in Organizational Leadership, Battle-Holley chose to pursue coaching rather than playing professionally overseas. He began his coaching career volunteering with the Dickinson High School Varsity Summer League team before joining the Rams’ staff. In his first year as Associate Head Coach, Dickinson improved dramatically from 6–16 to 18–8. The program carried that momentum into the 2024 Hamilton Park Summer League Championship, where Battle-Holley served as Head Coach. The Rams continued their success by winning a Christmas Tournament Championship, capturing the HCIAL American League Division Championship with an 11–3 record, and securing two state playoff wins for the first time in a decade. Dickinson has since established itself as one of the top public school programs in the area, recording at least 18 wins in each of the past three seasons.
