Joe Gaba has been the varsity girls basketball coach at Chatham High School (NJ) for the past 29 years, where he has a 576-218 career record, winning over 72% of games coached. Chatham has won 10 conference championships, 9 state sectional championships, 1 Morris County Championship. Included in those championship runs are 17 Morris County Final Fours, 8 County Title appearances and 6 Group Championship appearances. Coach Gaba has won numerous conference and county coach of the year awards. Coach Gaba has served as NJSCA coach for the New Jersey North-South Senior All-Star Game, including head coach in 2015 and 2025. He has coached nine 1,000 point scorers and has sent over twenty five student-athletes to highly successful collegiate basketball careers at the division 1 and 3 levels. Coach Gaba has his degree in biochemistry from Mount Saint Mary’s University (MD), his Masters in Biology from FDU-Florham and is currently working on his PhD in Professional Leadership at Seton Hall University. He has been teaching chemistry at Chatham High school for 29 years. Coach Gaba believes that coaching is an extension of the classroom.
